kingfisher

This handfasting cord is a woven 'Crios,' the traditional cord used in the Celtic custom of handfasting.

It is made entirely of wool and the design is inspired by the kingfisher’s bright and contrasting colours – orange, cyan and blue –which produce a startling flash of colour when the bird is in motion.

The pattern is balanced left and right to symbolize the equality of the masculine and the feminine in relationship.

This cord is made from Aran Yarn from Ireland’s two remaining woollen mills in Kerry and Donegal. It measures 78" long and 1.5" wide, perfect for tying around the wedding couples hands twice, with room for the knot on top.
